IPL Photorejuvenation

What is IPL?

IPL is short for Intense Pulsed Light, a treatment that can correct a variety of benign skin conditions.  It is not a true laser but rather a broad spectrum of light that can be used to simultaneously treat several conditions simultaneously.  Photorejuvenation Before and After

What skin conditions does it treat?

  1. Redness of the face, neck, and chest
  2. Freckles, sun spots, photodamage
  3. The signs of photo-aging and sun damage
  4. Broken veins and capillaries
  5. Other blemishes
  6. Rosacea

How is Photorejuvenation performed?

Goggles will be used to protect your eyes from the bright light.  A cold gel is then applied to the area to be treated.  The IPL handpiece is gently applied to your skin and pulses of light are applied.  You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band against your skin.  Each treatment takes about 20 minutes.

How many treatments will I need?

Treatments are generally administered in a series of 4 to 6 sessions that provide excellent long-term results.  By dividing the full program into several treatments, the procedure provides gradual improvement with very low risk of adverse reactions.

What will happen after the treatment?

Most patients experience slight redness and possibly minor swelling of the treated areas for a few hours.  Dark spots and freckles usually turn darker before they begin to fade.  Other rare side effects can occur and these will be discussed by Dr.Rodgers at your consultation.
