Microdermabrasion

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a superficial exfoliation process that is used to remove the dead, outermost layer of skin, revealing new skin cells that are soft and smooth.  A series of 5 treatments every 1 to 2 weeks is generally recommended at the start, followed by monthly treatments to maintain the results.

What is it used to treat?

Typically, microdermabrasion is used to treat and/or diminish acne, blackheads and whiteheads, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damaged skin, acne, superficial age spots, hyperpigmentation, oily skin, and dry or patchy skin.

What happens during the treatment?

With the DermaGenesis microdermabrasion®, medical-grade crystals are used to remove or exfoliate the dead, outermost layer of skin, revealing the healthy, living skin cells.  The procedure is performed by using a hand piece that is passed over the skin two or three times.  This evenly removes the outer layer of skin, while stimulating the newly exposed epidermis.

How long does the procedure take?

The average treatment takes approximately 10 minutes, depending upon the skin condition, area to be treated and desired outcome.

How long before I notice changes?

Many will notice improvements in the texture and appearance immediately after the first treatment.  The long-term benefits of multiple procedures can be remarkable.
